You may have a bad disk

check your syslog for scsi error messages

From another session does anything show up in dmesg? or /var/adm/syslog.log?

Do you have NFS or anything else that maybe hanging on IO?

Re: ioscan -fnC disk is not working

Did u recently connect any hardware to the machine? If yes, check the cabling first.

Any other device failure can also cause this.

Re: ioscan -fnC disk is not working

Hi:

Depending on the number of devices to scan an 'ioscan' can be time-consuming. Define "hangs". How long? How many disk devices do you have?

Make sure that you're not already running another 'ioscan' concurrently, too.

Regards!

Re: ioscan -fnC disk is not working

since you moved SCSI controller, did you rebooted after that? It seems, no precaution taken while moving SCSI controller which is giving lot of H/W errors. Reboot your system and check syslog which should clear all of these errors.

This could be that ioscan is scanning for hardware and not finding it. Check any new device that may have be added.
