We are training on the VA products right now. had a lab today where we took out a disk and ran ioscan, however ioscan does not report any changes. From wht we learnt, i thought that ioscan should report NO_HW or something to indicate tht a disk was missing- but nothing. Then we put the disk back in, no changes..The funny part- no log anywhere- nothing in syslog, nothing on issuing logprn!!! What could be the problem? Why would ioscan keeo showing the same output with all disks claimed, no matter how many times we took a disk out? Can anyone help so I can go back in there tomorrow and finish the lab, plz!!!

Re: ioscan output VA7400
And the same applies when you see the logs on the server. Coz the server sees no difference as for it every disk is still seen thats why no logs say that the disk has been removed or failed. Its only on the VA controller or VA Admin page when you look at you'll see that a disk is missing or failed.

SolutionYou should have command view installed to do that and from the client when you run
armdsp -a
Alternatively if the command view is configured for GUI you can launch the launcher program which will detail you the VA status
