When I run the ioscan command: ioscan -C disk
I get the following error message.
sh: /sbin/TRAllocater_d: not found.
retry
daemon could not be started
There is no such file in the sbin directory (or in any other directories)...

Solution
Looks like you have an ioscan which is for use with HP Openview Storage Allocater... do you have Storage Allocator installed on this host?
If so you should still have the original version of ioscan renamed to lmscan (if I remember correctly)

You put me on the right track, though it was not exactly the bulls eye (9 points :-)
It was a sw-implementation which had changed the ioscan, and the old ioscan was renamed to /sbin/LMscan
