Re: IP address(es) over Tachyon FC card?
the tachyon fc card is meant for mass storage connectivity.
for network connectivity and at gigabits rate, refer to the 1000Base Gigibits network adapters.

Re: IP address(es) over Tachyon FC card?
IP address can only be assigned to a card of class lan.
FC card belongs to HBA category. This is used for SAN connectivity.

Re: IP address(es) over Tachyon FC card?
I heard that for Emulex FC drivers, plumbing IP over FC was supported for HPUX (atleast for HPUX11). You could enable the feature from SAM and then get a new network device on which you could then plumb the IP.
Was this support stopped sometime post HPUX11.0?
Thanks and regards,
Abhijit.

SolutionYes, HP was working on allowing IP communication over FC. It was supported on the Lighthouse cards on the 700 series systems back in the mid-late 1990's. 10.x timeframe.
However, IP over Fibre Channel has not been supported for over five years. The driver for the Tachyon card does not include IP support.

Re: IP address(es) over Tachyon FC card?
At this point, submitting ER's through the RC would be the SOP :)
