IP configuration and Xemacs
I have 2 problems with my workstation under UX 10.20 :
1 - I have configured the IP's address. My station is correctly used through the factory's network. But only the AUI connector is active and not the RJ45 !! How can I activate the RJ45 ?
2 - I would like to change the toolbar icon's color under xemacs. But I don't find how to do it !!
Could someone help me for this 2 "small" problems ???
Thanks

Re: IP configuration and Xemacs
Edit your /etc/rc.config.d/netconf and add yout ipaddress.
Prior to doing this, ensure that your system have two lan cards with drivers, use lanscan to check.
Ensure that you have that UTP cable alabilable for connection to the RJ45 port.
All the best..

Re: IP configuration and Xemacs
10.20 is also very old, obsolete and unsupported since 2001, so you'll need to define whether you are using VUE or CDE as your desktop window manager.

Re: IP configuration and Xemacs
my station is a C360.
It is a old station with an old UX, but I can not change it, because we use an EISA connector !!!
I have opened the box...........but I didn't found the jumper.
are you sure about the jumper ?

Re: IP configuration and Xemacs
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/lpv37673/lpv37673.pdf
There is only one LAN card and in the C360, this is a 10/100 LAN card which autosenses both the interface as well as the speed. From the owner's manual (pg. 75):
"When the workstation fails to establish a link using the LAN-TP(RJ45) connector, the workstation automatically switches from the LAN-TP(RJ45) connector to the AUI connector. You can manually set the LAN interface to the AUI connector using the Boot Console Interface"

Re: IP configuration and Xemacs
I have forced the lan configuration to be in 10 Mbits half Duplex. I have connected the ethernet on the RJ45 connector and rebooted the station.
From an other station I can ping my station.
The only problem is that when I take a connection with "Exceed", it is very slow.
When I was connected on the AUI connector, that was faster.
May something must be reconfigured !!
thanks for your previous help..........if you have any idea !!

Re: IP configuration and Xemacs
you can change thew lan settings in either SAM or at BCH.
reboot the workstation to the BCH level and change it with the lanconfig command
from main menu go into configuration menu
and then you can change it to 100FD if the switch/network will work at that.
The options are
lanconfig 100/Full_dx
lanconfig 100/Half_dx
lanconfig 10/Half_dx
lanconfig 10/Full_dx
The aui will only work at a maximum of 10 half duplex.

Re: IP configuration and Xemacs
very slow connection could be speed/mode mismatch between lan card and switch.
Check that both are running 10 HD.
You also can check with 'lanscan' -> 'lan' -> 'dis' if there are errors by the connection.
