My question from three parts :

1. Max No. of Virtual ip address's that i can define per the ethernet port in the HP Unix Server rp8400.

2. What are the benfits i can get from Virtual IP Address's on the HP Unix Server rp8400?

Re: IP

So what is Q3 ?
Computers make it easier to do a lot of things, but most of the things they make it easier to do don't need to be done.

What does "Q3" have to do with anything?

Re: IP

I'm not familiar with limitations on the number of IP aliases (ie ifconfig lan0:N) that can be configured under HP-UX 11.11. If there are any, they _aught_ to be documented in the manpage for ifconfig and/or in the networking docs on docs.hp.com.

Now, there can be differences in semantics when one says virtual IP and IP alias. A VIP is typically something one uses in conjunction with load balancers. An IP alias is not.

Were you interested in virtual IPs, or IP aliases?
