IPHASE PROBLEM
I have a vme system with a HP744 card with graphics feature. Two client Hp744 without graphics feature. All three hp744 has its own harddsik attached. It also have a reflective memory card and a 6224 iphase card with two daughter card attached.
The problem is whenever I do a broadcast ping thru iphase card as follow :- ping 132.10.255.255 The error msg will appear "buffer space not available". After reboot the sytem it is ok. Why ??
Pse reply.

Re: IPHASE PROBLEM
Hello,
ENOBUFS is typically returned in the case that you mention when the LAN interface you're using is low on buffers/memory. It is very hard to say if this is an LAN driver issue for the LAN card, or a DLPI and/or IP issue on HPUX. If you are on HPUX 10.20 you should ensure you are at recent levels of the "LAN Products" and "ARPA Transport" patches (PHNE_22351 and PHNE_19937 respectively), and of course at the latest level of the Interphase driver http://www.iphase.com/support
I don't know if this helps or not; if you need to pursue this further you should get "patched up" and open up support call with HP and also with Interphase since the issue drops right in the middle of both areas of code.

Re: IPHASE PROBLEM
We had the very same problem with our VME chassis and 743i cards using a 6224 Iphase NIC card. We worked with Iphase and tried 7 different drivers to no avail. We finally went with an HP PMC Bridge adaptor card and used a Ramix network card and it worked fine. We had to throw away 55 Iphase cards.
This problem was a nightmare.
