IPL Error

Hi,

I am getting following error on J5000 class HP-UX server when trying to boot in 11.0 OS

IPL Error:bad LIF magic: not a valid LIF volume
Error reading IPL


Can any body let me know what is this error & how to resolve the same.

Are you trying to boot from a CDROM to install the OS ?

Sounds like you have used the incorrect path or incorrect options. PLease advise.

No I am not Installing the server.
It was working OS, Today morning I am getting this error.

May be problem with boot disk.

Have you mirroed the boot disk? If yes boot it from it.

Have you prepared the ignite tape?

Check if you are booting through the right boot disk.
If so then i am sorry to say that the boot area is corrupt on the disk, basically the LIF is corrupted on the disk. If you have ignite backup you are safe or boot from the recovery CD and repair the LIF.
