I've took delivery of a Ultrium II tape, when I try and perform a backup I get the following error.
fbackup(3038): output file /dev/rmt/1m is not a valid device file for backup
fbackup(3019): would you like to enter a new output file?
If I use an Ultrium I tape the backup tape it works fine. The tape drive is definately a Ultrium II
tape 1 0/0/1/0.5.0 stape CLAIMED DEVICE HP Ultrium 2-
SCSI.
Anybody any ideas why the Ultrium II tapes are not valid? Are Ultrium II tapes support under HP-UX 11i.
Thanks in advance
Mike

Re: Ultrium II tape
I'd look into rmsf and insf -e, maybe rebuild the device drivers.
You also need to add the stape drvier to the kernel
sam
kernel
drivers
It should be intuitive from that point, but it involves a boot.

Re: Ultrium II tape
Do I need a special driver for the Ultrium II tape drive. I can sucessfully backup using Ultrium I tapes so I guess that the tape drive is terminated correctly. The tape drive is currently using the stape driver.
The fbackup only complains if I try to backup using a Ultrium II tape load in the tape drive. If I use a Ultrium I tape there's no problem.
Thanks
Mike
