Is HP C/ANSI C Developer's bundle on Hp-UX 11i OS CDs?

Hi, we have ordered HP C/ANSI C Developer's bundle (HP-UX 11i) from HP and didn't get media shipped. I was told that it is on one of the HP-UX 11i OS CDs. I assume it won't be on Core OS CDs, so I tried the 3 application CDs and didn't find it.

I only have the 3 Core OS cds, 3 application CDs and one support &diagnostics CDs. If the C developer bundle is not on any of those CDs, how can I get it?

I know it sounds quite silly, but I was just handed over these things with no clue.

Thanks a lot,
Carol

hi,

you should have a paper ship with the customer identifier and stating that the product number is B3901BA (i think).

go to http://licensing.hp.com to retrieve the codeword and with that using one of the application CDs.

# mount /dev/dsk/ /cdrom
# swinstall -s /cdrom

you have to go to some options to key in the codeword before the product number will be shown in SAM viewer.

Re: Is HP C/ANSI C Developer's bundle on Hp-UX 11i OS CDs?

To find what CD the application is on (application CD set) open up the "CD_TABLE OF CONTENTS" file and it will tell you what CD it is actually on. The product number is your looking for is B3901BA. As mentioned once you have the codeword, use the 'add codeword' option in 'swinstall' and it will appear as part of the list. The best way is to use the interactive part of swinstall, which is 'swinstall' with no options.

Re: Is HP C/ANSI C Developer's bundle on Hp-UX 11i OS CDs?

Its on the app cd's.

What you will get is a piece of paper that will enable you to go on the web and generate something called a software codeword. You enter it into swintall -i and wala, the Ansi C will become available.

Check for:
1. Licensing document you got along with the shipment for C/ANSI Bundle
2. Either Fax it or go only on licensing.hp.con after filling it properly.
3. Provide them with the customer ID and Product No.
4. You will receive back a No. called codeword.
5. Insert application software CD into your server's CDROM drive.
6. execute #swinstall -s
7. Go to Actions TAB, select "ADD Codeword"
8. Enter the code you got from HP.
9. You will see the ANSI/C bundle listed in the list.
10. Go ahead by selecting one and install.

All the best.

Re: Is HP C/ANSI C Developer's bundle on Hp-UX 11i OS CDs?

Hi, Carol. C/ANSI-C (B3901BA, I believe it is), is on APP CD #1, I just installed it. This was from an 11i (11.11) CD set from December 03, if I recall correctly, the most recent available.

It doesn't show up in the 'swinstall' listing until you click on the "Action" tab (or tab over to it, on the text menu screen), and install the license key (see earlier posts for the URL for licensing).

Once you can see it, you can select it, mark it for install, and then click or select 'install'. What a system.

In an amusing twist, if you want to see what's on the App CDs, pop them into your PC. You can't do much or see much, but the products show up as directories, with names that are generally sufficiently indicative of the products that you can see which CD to use.

Good luck, --bmr

Re: Is HP C/ANSI C Developer's bundle on Hp-UX 11i OS CDs?

Hi Carol,

as other guys said it is not possible to see ANSI/C without a good codeword for it.
Sure you find it on CD Applications.

Anyway in order to see the products on CDs just mount CDROm and cd to mount point:

# mount /dev/dsk/cXtXdX /CDROM
# cd CDROM
# ll

You should see all products, products protected too.

After of course obtain a codeword by licensing.hp.com and install software.

HTH.

Re: Is HP C/ANSI C Developer's bundle on Hp-UX 11i OS CDs?

The others have already told where and how you can get the ANSI C from application CD:s.

Remember that the codeword is specific to the version of the CD set it is ordered for: if you have the codeword for, say, September 2003 CD set, it is useless if you only have March 2004 CD set.

A codeword is useless without the Customer ID that goes with it. Sounds simple, but recently I had to dig rather deep in archives for a certain codeword document. I had the codeword in my administration documents, but I had forgotten to document the Customer ID used...

Re: Is HP C/ANSI C Developer's bundle on Hp-UX 11i OS CDs?

You can find which cd by checking out
http://www.software.hp.com/RELEASES-MEDIA/media/media.htm --> current server or current workstation part numbers and cd contents

Each cd will appear in the list as a link. Look under the application section, search each disk.

The ansi product is on disk 3 of 5 at 11i:
CPL Product: B3899BA
Codeword Req.: Yes
Size: 113958026
Description: HP C/ANSI C Developer's Bundle for HP-UX 11.i (S700)

****
You can find the version of any application on the Application cds by doing the following:

http://www.software.hp.com/RELEASES-MEDIA/ --> application releases --> click the latest release html link

For instance 12/03 (html)
http://www.software.hp.com/RELEASES-MEDIA/latest/aps/app1203.htm

When the page loads, search for your product: C/ANSI You will see the different versions, as well as the month & year of it's release.

Thanks a lot everyone, I have found it on the second application disk. It might be arranged different for each media release.
