Is keytab file needed?

We are planning LDAP-UX.
What we want is just for AD user to login HP-UX.

NO TLS or SSL , SALS/GSSAPI needed.
No application integration needed.

Do we still need to create a principal in AD and keytab and then copy the keytab to HP-UX ?
