Is there a limit on the size of primary swap for HP-UX 11i?

In previous versions of HP-UX there was a 2GB limit on the size of primary swap (vg00/lvol2). So if you wanted a total of 4GB of swap you had to create a 2GB primary swap during the OS installation and then add a secondary swap volume of 2GB (usually lvol9). Is this limit still there on 11i? Can I create an 8GB primary swap lvol with 11i?

Thanks,

sure can.. though not sure you need that. With psuedo swap you do not need to match swap to ram. That has come into play as systems can have enormous amounts of RAM... say 64 GB... and you certainly do not want to waste 64 GB to SWAP

But you can set a large swap with 64bit 11.i

One thing to note, you would want to increase the maxswapchunk kernel parameter (the default is 256) because that parameter determines the amount of swap you can set on your system. For example..
MaxSwap=maxswapchunks*1024*swchunk
Let say I increased maxswapchunk to 2048. BTW swchunk is set at 2048 (no need to change this). With that..
(2048*1024*2048)/1024=4194304 KB
ie 4096MB
So the max amount of swap I can configure is 4GB.
