Is there any way to change boot order of HP-UX 800 series PA-RISC server to lan?

I know how to change to boot order from Itanium box, but how about PA-RISC box? I want to boot always from network first instead local disk.

The problem is when I do sea in BCH console, it only show me local disk's path as bootable path. Can you give me a little bit more detail? Thanks!

yes, it works. Thanks! The next problem is after I try to boot from lan, it failed with error code -7:

Booting...
Failed to initialize.

ENTRY_INIT
Status = -7

I tried to boot it from a solaris bootp server in the same subnet.

I run command: SEA lan install on BCH console, it returns ignite-UX servers in the same subnet only, no my solaris bootp server.

hi,

u may also use setboot command to set the boot but first run "ioscan -fClan", refer to this doc:

Hi Dawn

#setboot command can be used to set primary boot path of server to lan.

LAN HW path can be seen in ioscan or lanscan

Hi,

The only option I know to boot a HPUx server through lan is Ignite server.

There is no possible way to use your Sun box as an HP-UX boot server. bootp is designed to do simple boots of network products such as network devices, possibly othjer Sun boxes. But there is nothing on your Sun box that means anything to the HP server.

To boot HP-UX from the LAN, you use the Ignite/UX servers that the SEA command shows.

Hi Dawn,

By default, lan boot will work via a broadcast, that means it will search only ignite servers in the local subnets. If your ignite server is not on the same subnet as client, then you needs to configure the boot helpers

You can set the boot helpers with the following document
