Is there workstation version also available in HP-UX?

Hi

I joined in new project. where they have list for all HP-UX OS. In that list i found "server" and "workstation"

Ex:

So pls clarify me that is there server and workstation versions available in HP-UX.

hp-ux 11.11 (11i v1) runs on both, servers and workstation.

This will work on your J6000, if this system is supported with 11.11.

The workstation version of HP-UX is also refered to under the OS bundles as Minimal Technical OE (Operating Environment) or Technical OE (includes extra graphics applications).

The new bundles for 11.31 has seen this Tech OE version for workstations discontinued.

HP-UX is going to be same for both servers and workstations. Only thing is workstations will have extra hardwares like Display adapter and monitor etc..

In Redhat Linux. There is two flavours available in OS.

1) Redhat server OS.
2) Redhat workstation/client OS.

like that, i am asking is there any different types of OS available in HP-UX.

Hi,

From HP, there is no seperate CD's available for workstations. You can use the same cd to install both workstations and servers.

all 9000/785 are workstation and running only HPUX 10.20 or 11.11 (11iv1)
all the others are PA-RISC servers, and running 11.11 (11iV1), 11.23 (11iV2) or 11.31 (11iV3)..

Regardin HPUX boxes:
No support on 11.23 or 11.31 on workstation, product line is stoppeed by HP

No more enhancement on PA-RISC servers, product line is also stopped..

Now the only choice is Itanium box (RX servers) running or 11.23 or 11.31

And to further make things "clear" :) There is an Integrity "server" - the rx2660 - which can be ordered in a "Office Friendly Server" (aka tower) configuration. Whether that would meet someone's expectation of a "workstation" is a matter of preference.
