iSCSI initiator on 11.11 causes system to hang during shutdown

I have a k260 server with 11.11 installed which I have just installed iSCSI on and everything looked to go fine. I was able to create a volume group, logical volume and filesystem. But I wanted to verify that it would be availible after a shutdown. And this is where it got interesting. During shutdown it hangs on "Unmount file systems" locking all terminals. It does this whether or not the iSCSI filesystem is mounted or not. After a hard reboot, everything comes up except I have lost the iSCSI volume group. It still exists and I am able to recove it using SAM. And after an fsck it mounts fine. So I guess I have two questions:
1- Why is my system now hanging on shutdown.
2- Why isn't it mounting the iSCSI drive when it comes back on.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Re: iSCSI initiator on 11.11 causes system to hang during shutdown

1. cross-test by manually umounting the iSCSI-filesystems
2. are there any messages in /etc/rc.log or at the console during boot regarding vg activation problems?
yesterday I stood at the edge. Today I'm one step ahead.

Re: iSCSI initiator on 11.11 causes system to hang during shutdown

1- I do have the same problems even if the filesystem is manually umounted before shutdown. But this problem did not exist prior to the creation of the vg, lvol, & filesystem.

2- I certainly don't see any unexpected messages in /etc/rc.log. The only two lines which refer to volumes, file systems etc are:
mountall: cannot mount /dev/vg01/lvol8
vxfs mount: Cannot open /dev/vg01/lvol8: No such device or address

Re: iSCSI initiator on 11.11 causes system to hang during shutdown

Kyle,

Check the release note for the latest iSCSI initiator, version 0e:
http://docs.hp.com/en/T1452-90010/ch01s02.html

There is a known problem of system hang on reboot, that was fixed in that release,

Hi,

Note that the iSCSI latest software (version 0e) is available from software depot:
http://h20293.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=T1452A

I have verified with HP internally, this version will fix the hang problem.

Thanks Marie-Noelle, that's done the trick.
