Issue with lvremove command....

Hello,

I have a failed disk used by vg00:
...
PV Name /dev/dsk/c2t2d0
PV Status unavailable
Total PE 4340
Free PE 3828
Autoswitch On
...

I try to remove "/dev/vg00/swap4" with lvremove /dev/vg00/swap4 command but it doesn't work... I can't get back the prompt without kill this command.

So I can't remove this disk from VG and I can't replace it.

Someone can help me ?

Thanks,

Re: Issue with lvremove command....

hi,

if the disk has failed, what will lvremove help unless logical volume, /dev/vg00/swap4, happens to be that single disk?

please provide reply on:

# vgdisplay -v vg00

regards.

Try removing with the help of SAM.

Re: Issue with lvremove command....

Is /dev/vg00/swap4 a swap lv? If you don't want to have vg00 vg with swap then,

# lvrmboot -r /dev/vg00

Re: Issue with lvremove command....

lvremove -f /dev/vg01/swap4 command works but it is necessary to wait about 10min

Re: Issue with lvremove command....

Have you umount it before doing lvremove ? I hope, you did as well. Just wanted to confirm

# lvremove -f removes a logical volume without requiring user confirmation

Re: Issue with lvremove command....

Did you umount and lvremove -f the lv? I hope that may be a problem.

Re: Issue with lvremove command....

If you have a failed disks and assuming it is mirrored (being in vg00, remove the mirror first, then remove the disks by vgreduce...and so on.
