It cclogd daemon required ?

Hi,

We are having L2000 class server running omniback, with one processor, n the CPU resource is very high. When i use top, this cclogd process consumes most of the CPU time. is this process required to be running, can this process be stopped, which file to be modified to do so.

Regards.

Re: It cclogd daemon required ?

Hi:

High CPU utilization by the 'cclogd' daemon (a part of STM (Support Tools Manager) is a known problem. Download patch PHSS_24044 to fix this. It does not require a reboot to install.

Re: It cclogd daemon required ?

Let's try this again. In addition to what James said, you will have to restart the /sbin/rc2.d/S742diagnostic script manually after install. Before you do, however, clear out all the ccbootlog files from /var/stm/logs/os. The original problem was that this file was recreated with a new version every time a reboot was encountered or the file size reached 750Mb. After the version reached .11, the process would go in to an infinite loop and take up 98.8% of one CPU. Additionally, the lower versions of this file would be clearing itself out, which was the indication of the problem. When you restart the daemon, it will create a new ccbootlog file. hope this helps.

Re: It cclogd daemon required ?

Hi
The cclogd daemon is required as:-

The Support Tools Manager (STM) uses logging daemon cclogd to save chassis logs in the chassis code log files.

Chassis logs are log records which are generated by various system hardware, software and firmware. They can contain error indicators as well as informational messages.

See man cclogd
