I have connected one MSL5000 to an itanium server (ia64 hp server rx2620), but I cannot see it.
The ioscan shows:
ext_bus 3 0/1/1/1 mpt CLAIMED INTERFACE SCSI Ultra320
/dev/mpt3
but nothing more.
Do I have to define something more?, or enable something?
Thanks a lot of!
Carmen.

Re: Itanium and MSL5000
From ioscan before, it looks like it sees the robot.
Try:-
insf -eC tape
Then do
ioscan -fnC tape
If nothing there, then check your kernel for the stape driver. Use sam and go into kernel parameters and drivers. If not in add it into kernel and repeat the above. This will then show you your tape drives.
Hope this helps,
JASH

Re: Itanium and MSL5000
Add the drivers stape and schgr to your kernel.
schgr is for the robot arm.
To this through sam
kernel configuration
Modules
A reboot is required after these drivers are added to the kernel.

SolutionWithout the kernel drivers it should like this (other HW path of course):
unknown -1 1/0/4/0/0.5.10.255.0.0.0 UNCLAIMED UNKNOWN HP
MSL6000 Series
after driver is added
autoch -1 1/0/4/0/0.5.10.255.0.0.0 schgr CLAIMED DEVICE HP
MSL6000 Series
The "mpt" device is the SCSI HBA inside the server only.
To add the driver go to
SAM -> Kernel Configuration -> Module -> Modify -> schgr
Enter new state ( s-static u-unused ) OR q(Quit) = s
Do you want to save the current kernel configuration ? (y/n/q)[y] = y
Please check your cabling and termination first.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
