itanium

Hi
I have an itanium server with one internal hard disk 76 GB (boot disk), OS 11.23 hp-ux
I want to replace the disk with a 152 GB disk.
how can i do it?
if i do a mirror (76 to 152GB), does the system recognize 152GB or only 76 GB on the nmirrored disk ?
can i use ignite like PA-RISC system (is it the system procedure ?

Hassoun

Re: itanium

Hi,

It can be done with ignite as provided in the link provided above by RJ.

Yes it could be accomplished with mirroing as well if some of your VG parameters were set properly earlier. Just check for MAX_PE_PER_DISK and PE_SIZE from "vgdisplay -v /dev/vg00" If these parameters are set properly then you should be able to do it through mirroring as well. The multiplication of these two parameters shall give you total addressable space on one physical volume in this VG.

Re: itanium

Ignite... only real option

If you try to vgextend, the chances are that the OS set the max_PE_PER_PV to be the size of the disks & probably also increases your PE to 8MB

Re: itanium

Ignite is the only safest option here...

You can very well use ignite like RA-RISC systems.
