Re: ITRC Forum Statistics for December 2002

I erroneously put the statistics for 11 Dec 2002 in the November thread at http://forums.itrc.hp.com/cm/QuestionAnswer/0,,0x08a63a1c04ffd61190050090279cd0f9,00.html
Sorry.

Hi Merijn,

thanks a lot.
I hope this post will remain above 'november-thread'.
;-))
Missed your link at beepz very much. Now it works again.

Re: ITRC Forum Statistics for December 2002

The link on the left side of the main forums page still takes us to Nov 2002 stats, FWIW. BTW, what is the intent of this thread. Since the UNIX threads are the most active, we 'mere mortal (non-Olympian) types who languish in the Microsoft forums would never receive any recognition here. The opportunity to fix Microsoft software problems will never compare to the opportunities to fix UNIX problems since MS stuff is so much more stable. We're like the Maytag repairman over here.

I guess that's enough stirring for now.

Congratulations to all, especially harry! and John B - get some sleep!

Make a great day!

Roger, as my stat's add *all* the points, you're on the bright side of the stats. Read the intro in the November stats

Re: ITRC Forum Statistics for December 2002

I really did not make that many points in a week.

It looks like you are now including the points from the business forums also.

I have 800 some points there.

Hi Merijn,

how do you count those "schizos" on the forums?
Like me (BR8935) and me(CA76779) ;-)

Usually I am "stable" enough to choose only one identity per week (or so), but sometimes more frequently (full moon? the tide?)

Re: ITRC Forum Statistics for December 2002

Schizo's should be split and cloned .... recursively untill they rule the world :)

Since the ID is the key, you will just show up the stats twice. Which make it possible for you to strive for the impossible: be in the fast movers list with /both/ your identities. I dare you! zap!

And for the added notes:

Kathy Brockway passed 5000, Stefan only needs 469 for his leaves, and Steven E Protter almost succeeded in promoting twice in one week.

241 ain't bad, but they do *not* set a good example with

"This member has assigned points to 0 of 6 responses to his/her questions."

Sorry, could not resist.

Re: ITRC Forum Statistics for December 2002

Hi Merijn,

It's me again, your favorite little nagger, with another bit of whining for you.

I can rarely get to beepz to view the full stats. I tried off and on all day yesterday (with 3 different browsers). I tried again this morning. No luck. Same story last week. And the week before. I know it's Steven's site and you have no control, so I'd like to suggest that you go back to attaching at least the first couple of pages to your weekly posting.

That's enough nagging for the moment - thanks.

Pete

Re: ITRC Forum Statistics for December 2002

Hi Merijn,

Watching the stats each week is fun. One statistic I would like to see some time is the highest number of points anybody has earned from one thread. I just saw a thread where one person kept replying and helping the author, and they earned 94 points for the whole thread. That might be kind of fun to play with.

By the way, give Pete a few points. He is getting close to trading in his crown for some new head gear. :)

Re: ITRC Forum Statistics for December 2002

No bad words for Steven please! He's helped you all a lot by givin' me some gig's to put ITRC stuff on. I know a lot of you have problems with the https protocol, but that's beyond my control.

I'll happily switch to something more open to the world, without being ungratefull to Steven, so if someone is offering a writable area for me of lets say 3 gig, I'd be happy to update both, so we have some kind of mirror.

Pete will have to /earn/ his hat. Not with nagging :)

I won't be doing thread statistics. If you knew the way I do it, you'd understand. Graphics are still up for grabs (not mine), but if anyone wants that, just ask for my sources and/or the current database

Enjoy, have FUN!

Merijn,

I certainly didn't intend to give Steven any "bad words". I sincerely hope I haven't managed to offend.

Another interesting stat would be to show percentage of point assignments. Best and worst.

Re: ITRC Forum Statistics for December 2002

Hi Merijn:

An interesting statistic not heretofore requested (to my knowledge) would be the number of points gathered from chats and jokes versus the number of points gathered for *real* contributions ;-)

Re: ITRC Forum Statistics for December 2002

Pete, that's up to Steven to decide :)

What I said is merely thast I'm willing to support a /second/ site which can act as a mirror of beepz.

Ken, you can do that yourself. Go to https://www.beepz.com/personal/merijn/#Statistics, down load the statistict of your choice, and use your favourite tool (probably perl :-P) to sort the list on the columns where the percentages are. FWIW this already /is/ a sorting criterium.

Jim, you're the first :) I would not know how to make a filter that would be able to draw a line between the two based on the contents of each post. Just as the request to check which user has earned the most points in *one* thread, this would be too much work, and can probably be done only after mirroring the complete ITRC. IMHO some `joke' posts are as valuable as `real' posts. The warmth that we feel comfortable with here at the forum partly comes from non-tech posts. A great example is U.'s "daring" thread. I /think/ I got about 165 points from U. here, usually enough to enter the fast movers list.

Enjoy, have FUN!

Re: ITRC Forum Statistics for December 2002

Dear Merjin,

It is great you have now a HTTP-based website which supports your storage needs. Getting rid of HTTPS, this will enhance the accessibility of your priceless contributions and benefit the entire ITRC community. :-)

Thus, I would think it appropriate for Clemen's site to be primary while my site be used as a backup site instead.

Warmest regards and take care.

Re: ITRC Forum Statistics for December 2002

I felt it was my duty last week as a non Xmas(apologies to any offended by this term) to help out my brothers and sisters here as much as possible.

I really find, I'm sharpening my skills, especially my ability to pull things out of memory by trying to solve problems.

I will admit that sometimes I have to force myself to back away and do what I'm paid to do.

Bottom line is, I love this forum and hope to be a fast mover for a while.

I can't wait to spend some time as Steven Protter wizard, aka Harry Potter, whom I have only read, never seen a movie on.

Hope you have a propserous new year and get a better raise than I got.

Any know anybody that can get me a consulting gig? Kids are expensive.
