ITRC Forum statistics for December 2007

I had the brilliant idea that if I started the stats thread for him, Merijn could be properly rewarded for all the effort he puts in.

Until Merijn decides to correct it, the 5 December stats are posted in the November thread:

Re: ITRC Forum statistics for December 2007

Sorry for the stats inconsistency last week, I was way to busy to dig into that, but I blame the not-so-stable network connection we recently have. A new router is on the way (all to do with an upgrade to ADSL2 that our current router doesn't like too much).

I hope it also explains the strange header in this weeks stats. At least the fast mover list looks to be credible again. (I started it again. If the results are very different, I'll do a repost).

Re: ITRC Forum statistics for December 2007

Hello,

I also noticed that we have some problems with "Responses" column, it's 0 for too many users.

Also, on http://www.itrcstats.info the Awards section is currently "broken", I'll look into it later.

Found the basic source of the problem: *TWO* running collectors is not a good idea!
One of them was hanging since about Novenmber the 14th :(

The new router arrived. Once that is up and running, I'll do a rescan

Re: ITRC Forum statistics for December 2007

Merijn,

I've implemented a bit of code to change nofollow to noindex, nofollow in index.html

google and aol are killing me with indexing the site. HP's proxy servers seem to like your content as well.

You may want to save my code the trouble and change index.html

I've put way to much work into bandwidth limitation to keep this mirror alive.

Volkmar,

I'd forgotten that you attempted to do this very thing once before. I don't know why mine survived and yours did not, but I do think that Merijn deserves the little bit of credit that I can give him - and apparently the moderators seem to agree!!

Re: ITRC Forum statistics for December 2007

I will email you Merijn.

robots.txt doesn't even slow AOL and google down.

It doesn't stop the HP proxy servers because they don't respect robots.txt.

Some brain surgeon in networking has apparently decided to cache the entire internet or at least sites with significant links on HP's web site.

Re: ITRC Forum statistics for December 2007

I apologize for the inconsistency in points assignments. I've been debating how I should distribute the booty.

What I've come up with is:

10 points for Merijn's stat posts
5 points for Merijn's other contributions
5 points for the mirror maintainer's postings
0, 1, or 2 points for everyone else, depending on whether I think you're contributing anything or just fishing.

Re: ITRC Forum statistics for December 2007

Shalom,

What if I impossed an .htaccess password on the content?

I can force a user id and password which Merjin can post on the links.

Then nobody would be able to index the content.

Would you the users tolerate that or just stop using the site altogther?

Let me know. I think the idea is pretty brilliant myself.

Re: ITRC Forum statistics for December 2007

Hi Merijn:

Well, it would seem something is amiss with the latest data. There are no bunny counts in your data, and the propagation to Alex's database is not only devoid of that but also of the number of responses and the points average.

Regards!

Re: ITRC Forum statistics for December 2007

I will check into those later. Probably a little change in the HTML format.

Re: ITRC Forum statistics for December 2007

Gimme some time on that. I have to do a lot of maintainance first, as I am upgrading my perl environment on my laptop.

Good moment to also check the bunny problem.

Re: ITRC Forum statistics for December 2007

Good news!

1. Found the country problem
2. Found the bunny problem (I think)

Bad news:

a. Found a bug in 5.10.0

Good news:

3. You're not likely to hit it *), and it was easy to program around it.
4. Stats sofware now fully functional under perl-5.10.0 (so far at least)

*) /me assumes not many people do DB_File ties in deep down parts of Hashes-Of-List-Of-Hashes that might contain undef on which you want to do s{}{}e substitutes.
