Re: ITRC Forum statistics for June 2003

Massimo,

Sometimes we hit submit on points, get a 404 error or a long wait and try again.

That clicks some counter in the profile database. For reasons not explained to me, HP doesn't want to reset the counters.

I'm plus six normally, but have a few responses to track down and point.

Nice job last week Massimo. Excellent total. Blowing off a few stop signs on the road to the dunes.

Re: ITRC Forum statistics for June 2003

SEP, almost true. Though what you describe is the most plausible cause, it's more or less a combination of action - browser - server respons.

Just try hitting submit three times, and chances are very low by now that you will pass the 100% (until a year ago, this was *the* way to get over 100%, and give someone 100 points for a single answer :]]] )

Opera 7 was unable to submit points at all till 7.11 was released, 7.11 works OK.

HP has stabalized the point acceptance in rejecting double submits most of the time. Best chance on a failure on HP side is hit submit again on the moment the browser is about to show the 404.

Re: ITRC Forum statistics for June 2003

I should have added thats how I did it. Most of mine were IE/itrc performance issues. There are probably a lot of ways to make it happen.

Hi Merijn,

Thanks for this work.

I'm glad to be back among the fast movers !

Who'll help Will, Gerrit and Vitaly, who are so close, to get their hat ? No point left behind for them ?

Re: ITRC Forum statistics for June 2003

Merijn,

Is it possible that I could run these programs for you while you are on holiday?

1) Are they bandwidth intensive?
2) Will the band width G-ds at work get angry?
3) If its low bandwidth, could I run it at home on a Linux box?
4) If I have to run it at work, I have a HP-UX machine I can task to the job, with plenty of local disk, just need to know the current Perl revision and environment requirements for the user that owns it. I'd also need to know the directory structure for the filesystem it collects data on.

When you get back from holiday you can post the July stuff you collected via cron.

Re: ITRC Forum statistics for June 2003

Steven, all is under control here, and you don't have to run anything. All is saved till I'm back. Expect a lot of stats early August.

What you can do is explain the others why there are no stats in July :)

First 16 days vacation, then after that a Perl conference in Paris. Might find some forum time in between, but I guess not.

Re: ITRC Forum statistics for June 2003

Merijn,

I'll keep an eye on your pyramid for you while you're gone. You did get the new padlock installed on the refrigerator, didn't you? Rumor has it that Harry's been sneaking about once in a while and you wouldn't him getting into your Labatts supply. There's nothing worse than coming home to an empty refrigerator!

Have a great holiday!

Re: ITRC Forum statistics for June 2003

Hello Merjin,

I'm happy to see that I've been promoted to Wizard, but I'm seing that the hat is still the squared hat.

If check my points you can see that:

business customer discussion groups
total points: 17

IT resource center forums
total points: 998

All together sum 1015, but I suppose that the hat change with the ITRC forums points. I'm wrong?.

Re: ITRC Forum statistics for June 2003

Vincente, you're right,
but Merijn can't check every promotion if it is only from ITRC or from summary of both.
You have to wait for your 2 pts., but pay attention Big Brother is watching you. ;-))

Keep on foruming
