j2240 - fast ethernet card options?

Hi there. I apologize for any etiquette breaches as this is my first post.

I've just acquired a j2240, and intend to install 11i. I would like to install a second fast ethernet connection and would appreciate some advise. According to everything i've read, the card to use would be hp's b5509ba (adaptec ana-6911a unknown firmware rev.). Unfortunately i've only been able to locate a small number these cards through surplus dealers, and their prices have been rather impractical for me at $250-$400 (i am a student, and the system itself was only $300). Are there any other suitable cards available, or is there perhaps a firmware flash i can use on a current ana-6911a to make it visible under hp-ux? Any suggestions would welcome. Thanks for your time and attention!

In HP-UX you need an add in product that is called APA Auto Port Agregation.

It costs some money. HP usually sells it via resellers.

Hi, Trey!

OK. I'll play dummy and ask the obvious question: Why do you need a second NIC?

Trey,

According to partsurfer ( http://parsurfer.hp.com ), there is also a J3516A (HSC FF 100 Base-X Dual-Port LAN adapter - HSC or fiber base - Plugs into GSC slot) card available.

Pete -

In the ideal world i'd like to have the ux box doing nat for my other workstations... i only have one legal ip, and i'll need the ux box directly accessible from the Internet.

One other thought - I've heard tell of people finding this sort of thing on ebay! You might want to check that out as well.

Good luck,
