We recently received a J5600 with a graphics card and USB keyboard and mouse. When it boots, the LCD on the J5600 indicates it is passing all the tests and then it goes into a "Run" state that looks normal... only I can't see anything on the monitor connected. The monitor connected to the J5600 is working fine on a J5000 sitting next to it.
During the boot process, I see "Consol GRAPH7" on the LCD on the J5600. I vaguely recall there is a key sequence that can be used to tell the workstation to use the graphics device as the console (and not the console port for example.)
Do I need a key sequence? Any other ideas?

Re: J5600 boot but no monitor - consol GRAPH7
You might want to see if you can log into it with telnet/ssh if the LCD ever gets to runs status.
If you can log in then ioscan or mstm/cstm should show a dead device.

Re: J5600 boot but no monitor - consol GRAPH7
It turned out, the graphics card works, but must be more demanding in terms of expected monitor bandwidth (vert and horiz freq.) I took an HP monitor that shipped with a different J5000, attached it to the J5600 and rebooted. This time I could see the console on the graphics card as expected.

SolutionYou should be able to go into "sam" and set the display monitor characteristics so you could use the older monitor if it was just resolution and scan rate. However, depending on how old your monitor is, it may be a synch issue. The really old HP monitors and graphics cards used sync-on-green (three wires) while all the newest ones use a separate sync signal (four wires) like a PC. In the middle, I think some graphics cards could do both. If your old monitor only supports synch-on-green, it will not work with newer graphics cards. If it supports both you still may need a different cable.
