Jabber on HP-UX

Hi all,

I am trying to compile this jabber server ( instatnt Messaging server ) on my A-class with HP-UX 11.00 Patch bundle June 2001. I have already installed gtk+, glib, GNU Make and gcc. But the jabber software is not getting compiled. My collegue was able to compile it ona different machine but the jabberd daemon is getting hanged and not working.

If anyone has already been able to compile it and run it successfully can you please let me know what am I missing or the steps to be taken .

Hi,

This isn't going to be the exact answer that you are lookin for, but maybe it will help. I too tried compiling Jabber on HP-UX (Both with gcc and ansi c) with no success in getting it to run afterward.

Since Jabber was developed (natively) for Linux, I just slammed together a little Linux box and put it there. Everything went without a hitch. I had Jabber up and runing in about a half hour. Our group seems to like it. Sure comes in handy when someone is working from home.

I also see that this software is mainly for the linux platform but I still want to try it on HP-UX . I complied it on a solairs box and it was running within no time. I would still love to hear from you and others as what might be wrong with HP-UX.

If possible include the last few messages of the gcc compiler when it aborts. It is easier to troubleshoot what went wrong.
And it could also be very handy to include your 'configure' parameters. thx.

I was able to compile it finally after changing the makefile to include math library . But after compiling when I try to start the jabber daemon, this is what happens and the daemon hangs:

I have the same problem with jabber. I have compiled it on HP-UX 11.0 but it hangs when started. Do you kow of anyone that has solved this problem and managed to get jabber working on HP?

Having trouble adding the conferencing and jabber user directory functions today.

Perhaps because I had to statically link jabber to get it to work, and now it can't dynamically load the additional libraries?

I came to the same result i got messsenger to work but not the JUD.
I have used the binary from HP's internet express cd.
And i have tried compile the source from the same cd. with same result.

Has anyone found a solution in the meantime?
