Re: Java 1.3 to hp-ux 10.20
Hi,
To check the Java Version,
/opt/java1.3/bin/java -version
if java is installed in /opt/java1.3 Depending on that may be installed over there, you may get something like this (This is for Itanium m/c, do not get confused)
java version "1.3.1.15"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.3.1.15-050128-16:01)
Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (build 1.3.1 1.3.1.15-_28_jan_2005_18_32 IA64, mixed mode)
Hope this helps.

Re: Java 1.3 to hp-ux 10.20
I do not recall that 1.3 was ever back-ported to 10.20. My recollection is that by that time Java so wanted "real" threads that the user-space only threads available under 10.20 were insufficient.
And, given that 10.20 went EOL (End of Life) some time ago, the liklihood of any "newer" Java being ported there is basically nil.
Just as a sanity check, you might try to get your hands on one of the later 10.20 Applications CD sets and look there. Just don't get your hopes up.
It would be a very good time to consider an upgrade to a newer OS release. I'm guessing, but cannot be certain without knowing the system, that you should be able to upgrade to 11iv1 - aka 11.11. I would at least try for 11.11 and not settle for 11.0 since before too much longer 11.0 will go EOL also.
Best of course would be to go to 11iv2 - aka 11.23. I'm not sure which, if any, of the hardware that was supported on 10.20 is supported on 11.23, which may mean a HW upgrade is indicated. Doesn't have to be "new" hardware, just "newer" hardware.
The nice thing about 11iv1 and 11iv2 is they have support for "real" (aka "kernel" threads) among the host of other modern features.
