java heap size

We have a hpux11 environment with jre 1.3.1.02.
we need to increase the heap size of jvm to 3000MB, but we are unable to give it the -Xmx parameter more than 2000MB.
On hpux11i, it is possible to increase the Xmx parameter value to 3000MB.

Can anyone tell how we can achieve this high heap size on hpux11.
