JAVA - pthreads - HP-UX 11.0

Hi,

I've heard that the lack of performance of JAVA on HP-UX 11.0 is due to bad
implementation of pthreads. It should be solved in HP-UX 11.11.

Can anyone tell me if this is true ?

I had problems with Java on 11.11

First thing that you should be checking is you are up to date on Java patches for your OS version. Second thing with Java, you have option of using native threads OR green threads. To avoid any performance problems, you should be carefull giving appropriate sizes for JVM. Initital hep sizes, max heap sizes should be looked at before starting JVM.

On 11.1, I had problems with memory resouce that java eating into. But that can be controlled as told you ealier with initial, max heap sizes. I did not come across any pthread problems.

Note that Itanium-based systems do not need this patch.
