Java Webstart 1.2 with HP-UX 11 and Netscape 4.77

I am having a problem using Web Start on HP-UX 11 with Netscape 4.77. I am using Web Start 1.2 with the 1.4.1.05 plug-in (Sun equivalent is 1.4.1_04). The .jnlp file that I have works launches my application just fine in IE 5.5 on Windows 2000 with Web Start 1.2 and Java Plug-in 1.4.1_04 and my Web Start proxy settings set to none. When I try to launch my application with the same .jnlp on Netscape on HP-UX it brings up Web Start but does not launch my application. If I have â noneâ selected in the proxy settings Web Start is blank. If I have â Use Browserâ selected, it displays the Sun Demo applications. I do not see any errors being thrown, it just does not launch my application.

I tried to clear my browser cache, but that did not do anything.


Is there something different I need to do to my .jnlp file in order to get it to work on HP-UX 11 with Netscape 4.77? If not, does anyone have any suggestions on things

...oh and switching browsers for our users is not an option at this point

...I am able to launch my remote jnlp from the command line. It just does not work through the browser. I am at a loss

I believe your problem is NetScape... any version below 6.0 will have problems with Java specially (1.4.1 was not even around yet when 4.77/78 appeared..).. You will notice, Netscape 6/Mozilla 1.x are now the bundled browsers on UNIX systems... If changing browsers is not an option -- try downgrading your Java to 1.3.1 or 1.2??.. Aside from these -- I believe you've no other options...

The release notes say 1.4.1.05 is approved for use with Netscape 4.77. The problem is I cannot find any requirements for Webstart. Does anyone know where that information can be found?
