JDK1.2.2 and Timezone setting

Hi, I think I'm in the right forum for this...

I am installing a Java based monitoring agent (Firehunter) which comes with it's own bundled JRE1.2.2 for HPUX. I am installing on an 11.11 system, Gold Packed to June 2003

When I attempt to start the product, it core dumps giving the following error:

#
# Java version:
# HotSpot VM (1.0.1fcs, mixed mode, PA2.0 build 1.2.2.07-00/12/08-PA_RISC2.0)
#
# HotSpot Virtual Machine Error, Unexpected Signal 11
#
# occurred at pc=c019c71c
# Error ID: /CLO/Components/JAVA_HOTSPOT/Src/build/hp-ux/../../src/os/hp-ux/vm/o
s_hp-ux.cpp, 2998
#
/opt/Firehunter/bin/startagent[48]: 8260 Abort(coredump)

If found a reference on another forum to changing the Timezone environment setting at the command line (attached). I tried changing from GMT0BST to MET-1METDST and it worked great.

Problem solved? Almost. As this is a monitoring tool, the stats it gives are timestamped, and therefore i can't use a different timezone. I am in Dublin, and MET-1METDST is the wrong zone for me.

Can anyone suggest either a suitable alternative timezone setting that will work with jre1.2.2 or a fix for jre1.2.2?

Unfortunately, I cannot upgrade the JDK as this is a package, and even more unfortunately it will be some months before I can upgrade the package.

Apologies for being long-winded, any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

I had the same error..
But on another system the install worked fine.
I compared the env settings between the 2 machines AND
the only difference was the TIMEZONE?!?
The timezone on the machine where the install didn't work was
WET (TZ=WET0WETDST).
On the other machine was the Timezone MET (TZ=MET-1METDST).
I changed the timezone in /etc/TIMEZONE
(TZ=MET-1METDST
export TZ)
Now the install works fine.
Hope this is the same problem/solution for you...!
