jetadmin and/or lpsched issue

I have a strange issue (most are), after normal monthly scheduled reboot my 'network' configured printers doing seem to spool print jobs and no errors that I can see.

I bounce lpsched and they work again.

The 'remote' printers work fine, just the network defined ones.

Not sure if its a patch, jetadmin, printer config, etc... issue. Quick to fix, but I shouldn't have to bounce lpsched after a reboot.

Has anyone ever heard of such a thing??

Input please....

Re: jetadmin and/or lpsched issue

My best guess is that lp is not going through a clean shutdown. Perhaps the rc 'K' (kill) script is missing.

You could look for lp patches but this is not a normal situation. Of course, doing a monthly reboot is not really a normal situation either. The only time reboots should be needed are for the installation of patches.
If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

You should also examine the lp log for possible clues.

Dan,

my recommendation is put in the lpspooler patch first, usually patch will fix the issue
