jetadmin hell

Why is it so bloody hard to find a download for the current version of jetadmin for hp-ux? I keep getting shoved off to support areas where I can find out anything I could desire *about* jetadmin except for one little tidbit: WHERE TO DOWNLOAD IT FROM!!!

I would be most grateful if someone would reply with a link to the current download for jetadmin for hp-ux.

And HP, in case the message above is not clear: Your web pages suck when it comes to trying to find the download for jetadmin for hp-ux. Maybe I'm just ticked off about having to work until 2am this morning. It shouldn't be this hard to find the download location.

Re: jetadmin hell

I agree that HPs new web site design stinks. I hard to find the information now.

Here's a couple of links for you though:

HP Jetadmin for Windows:
http://www.hp.com/cposupport/swindexes/hpjetadmin1876_swen.html

HP Web Jetadmin:
http://www.hp.com/cposupport/swindexes/hpwebjetad1880_swen.html

I haven't been able to find just plain JetAdmin for Unix yet.

Re: jetadmin hell

FYI - How I found the stuff:

I managed to get to this page:
http://www.hp.com/cposupport/software.html

and then put 'jetadmin' in the product name field and it came up with the results for Jetadmin for Windows and the Web Jetadmin.

Re: jetadmin hell

Hi Jim,

I rarely go out to the HP Web site to download anything...I just ftp and download straight to my UNIX server. Here's where jetadmin is:

ftp ftp.hp.com
cd /pub/networking/software
ls HP*

.... and voila...Jetadmin (HP10d621.SD or HP11d621.SD) software for your HPUX server.

Hope this helps,
Rita

Re: jetadmin hell

Thanks, Rita! You've made my day much better. As always, the command-line rules. "Luke, come to the dark side, Luke."

BTW, that D390-to-N4000 migration went well once we reinstalled Oracle 8.1.6. The DBA's and AP's were giddy with delight when they saw a 24-hour process run in 44 minutes. I told them tips/donations were always graciously accepted ;-)

Cheers,
Jim

Re: jetadmin hell

I believe the JetAdmin was being phased out by HP Jetdirect Printer Installer for Unix (hppi). This may be why there isn't a link for it on the site anymore. Although there is 'Web Jetadmin' it's only w/ 11.x.

Here's where I redirect people who are looking for jetdirect printing software:

start at http://www.hp.com
->click drivers
->search for: jetdirect hp-ux

There should only be 2 products listed, one for 10.x the other for 11.x

Additional support for Jetdirect software and products is available through HP Customer Care (208) 323-2551.

Hope this helps
