Hi,
I suspect power supply.
Is the power cord to the server loose ?
Just a guess

Thanks

Hi again,
Have you tried replacing SMPS(power supply)?
Is your room temparature maintained ?I have seen server going down due to high room temparute.

Best of luck

Re: K460 sometime reboot, whitout any log or dump

2 possible causes of these types of crashes;

1. Hardware problem
2. HP-UX patch problem

I notice from your list of logs you havent searched the STM hardware diagnostic logs ? Do you have OnlineDiag installed ? This captures any and all hardware problems and can contain essential clues as to hardware problems which could be causing your crashes. Install from the SUPPORT PLUS CD or download from software.hp.com, then run XSTM, go to TOOLS -> RUN -> LOGTOOL and view the hardware logs (after giving it some time to run).

2. For HP-UX patch related crashes the best solution is to update your patches - use a current GR patch bundle, June2001 is the latest. Install it and see if your crashes go away.
Im from Palmerston North, New Zealand, but somehow ended up in London...

Check whether the alert signal is glowing.if so checks the errors in the alert log.u may find some informations from it.

Re: K460 sometime reboot, whitout any log or dump

You should make sure you have crashconf configured.
/etc/rc.config.d/savecrash or something like that.

Using q4 -p /var/adm/crash/crash.0

the
q4> run WhatHappened > /wh.0
q4> quit

you will find out what was executing on the cpu at the time.

Althought if hw failed you should spot that straigt away.. and have a ts99 but if not at the BCH> SER
SER> pim hpmc
to find out what happened,
The shutdownlog in /etc/ should have some info.

Later,
Bill
It works for me (tm)

Re: K460 sometime reboot, whitout any log or dump

NO messages..no warnings.

Had same thing on a K570 box...turned out to be the power supply & controller. Once I had the hardware replaced...no more phantom rebooting.

& any cables connected Tightly...

I coludn't find any messages in STMlog
This system Patched june 2001(GR& HWCR)

I think,if Power supply was bad, system wouldn't boot. So, I suspicious System board
