Kermit and modem not behaving as expected or required

Hi

I have a diamond supra modem attached to a K580 hpux 11.0. Settings, parity even, flow xon/xoff, speed 9600. In the following situatiuons this is what happens:

1. using cu - all is ok, can connect, login, send etc.

2. start c-kermit, set modem type to none, set comm settings etc. - can connect dial and send etc. ok

3. start c-kermit, set modem type supra, set comm settings - connects then immediately disconnects, message "Communications Disconnect"

4. start kermit, set modem type to none, set comm setting, dials, connects ok, hangup, then without exiting kermit, set modem type to supra, can connect dial, send all is ok.

I have tried setting all the default supra settings on the modem when modem set to none and they all work fine.

Does anybody have any ideas about why I have to do option 4 to connect? I am baffled.

Many thanks

Keely

ps have attached a file showing what is going on in case any of the above doesn't explain things very well.

Why not upgrade your kermit to 8??

http://www.columbia.edu/kermit/ck80binaries.html#hp

which release 7 includes the supra modem types.

Cheers Harry.

Upgraded kermit, set carrier watch to off and all is hunky dory.

I am a very happy bunny.
