kernel build fail

Hi

I upgrading a s/w, which would hv caused the server to reboot, which although got fully installed but failed at kernel rebuild and the message logged was installation suspended. On investigating found that some OS patches were missing Application of these patches also involves reboot. I want to know that whether after the reboot due to patch installation, the s/w can be assumed to be installed successfully as well or do I need to reinstall the s/w and reboot again.

TIA

Re: kernel build fail

Hi,
The software has to be re-installed again
because the first installation was sucessful.
The changes which patch had done will come into effect after the reboot which was due to patch installation.
So you have to re-install the software & try.

Re: kernel build fail

Hi Ravindra,
When it says kernel rebuild failed means either you don't have relevant kernel modules required for that software or they may be missing. This indicates improper installation. Ideally you have to remove the partial installation, satisfy the prerequisites of the Software you are installing and then install it again.
