Re: Kernel Fault
I know that this question(s) has come up before but I need to found out will the patch PHKL_20590 ( SR: 8606102798 DTS: JAGab68793) can do the fix for me, or should I remove the stape from /stand/system, then mk_kernel, or any other suggestions.
Many Thanks
Chris

i will try , because it seem that you have a problem with the st_ats_enabled .
i will advise you to install the new version of the patch stape :
PHKL_22854 - see that if have dep. !!!
As you know, you have to set the following options:
[X] reinstall filesets even the same revision exists
[ ] enforce dependency analysis errors on agent
[ ] enforce script failures

Re: Kernel Fault
Assuming we talk about 11.00... maybe someone accidently re-installed the Line In The Sand Patch PHKL_18543?
If yes, I would strongly recommend to check the system using the check_patches script. Please use the latest one delivered by PHCO_24347.
Regards...
Dietmar.

Re: Kernel Fault
Sorry... didn't notice that you were talking about 10.20. There is no check_patchs script for that release, sorry.
Found a document describing a solution... unfortunately there seem to be problems to access the doc via itrc, so I attached it: KBRC00006852

Re: Kernel Fault
Kernel parameters are as follows:
Kernel Configuration
The following drivers or parameters are configured into your system's
kernel. After installing HP-UX, use the sam(1m) command to configure
the following items into the kernel:
maxdsiz 134217728
maxswapchunks 4595
maxuprc 200
msgmax 32767
msgmnb 65535
msgmni 300
msgseg 32767
msgssz 64
msgtql 4800
nproc 800
nstrpty 60
semmni 250
semmns 300
semmnu 300
shmmax 134217728
shmmni 250
So that means that I have to re-install the June-2000 patch bundle?
Once again many Thanks

Re: Kernel Fault

i ask about the kernel param because i had hte same problem in hp-ux 11.00 with sema kernel params that this is not this issue now .

Re: Kernel Fault
Here some explanations why I stress on re-installing the bundle.
Your mk_kernel failure is NOT only stape-related. There is an additional message:
/usr/ccs/bin/ld: Unsatisfied symbols:
kpageoutcnt (data)
This has nothing to do with stape. This comes from a completely different area...
It typically indicates that the kernel's vm_vhand.o object was downgraded by a PHKL_16751 re-installation.
This can be checked using:
# what /usr/conf/lib/libhp-ux.a |grep vm_vhand
If you see there e.g. PHKL_14013 then you are in trouble.
The problem is that this may be only the tip of the iceberg! PHKL_16751 contains 202 objects! You should then either check the solution I attached above _or_ re-install the complete bundle.

Many thanks for your assistance.
Dietmar you are spot on with #what /usr/conf/lib/libhp-ux.a |grep vm_vhand= PHKL_14013. What does this mean?.
Thanks

Re: Kernel Fault
your swlist shows PHKL_19756. This patch contains:
what(1) Output:
/usr/conf/lib/libhp-ux.a(ufs_mchdep.o):
ufs_mchdep.c $Date: 99/09/13 10:04:29 $ $Revision: 1
.18.98.10 $ PATCH_10.20 (PHKL_19756)
/usr/conf/lib/libhp-ux.a(vfs_bio.o):
vfs_bio.c $Date: 99/09/13 10:05:07 $ $Revision: 1.26
.98.32 $ PATCH_10.20 (PHKL_19756)
/usr/conf/lib/libhp-ux.a(vfs_vm.o):
vfs_vm.c $Date: 99/02/17 14:18:42 $ $Revision: 1.17.
98.19 $ PATCH_10.20 (PHKL_17625)
/usr/conf/lib/libhp-ux.a(vm_devswap.o):
vm_devswap.c $Date: 99/02/17 14:23:50 $ $Revision
: 1.19.98.8 $ PATCH_10.20 (PHKL_17625)
/usr/conf/lib/libhp-ux.a(vm_sched.o):
vm_sched.c $Date: 99/02/17 14:24:58 $ $Revision:
1.58.98.13 $ PATCH_10.20 (PHKL_17625)
/usr/conf/lib/libhp-ux.a(vm_swp.o):
vm_swp.c $Date: 99/02/17 14:25:34 $ $Revision: 1.
49.98.4 $ PATCH_10.20 (PHKL_17625)
/usr/conf/lib/libhp-ux.a(vm_vhand.o):
vm_vhand.c $Date: 99/02/17 14:26:10 $ $Revision:
1.20.98.8 $ PATCH_10.20 (PHKL_17625)
So your vm_vhand object _should_ show what string PHKL_17626. But it doesn't. Instead it shows the string of the version delivered with PHKL_16751 indicating a re-installation.
See resolution hints above.
Regards...
Dietmar.
