Re: Kernel Modify
I am assuming you know how to change the kernel and am omitting this from my answer.
Your request provides very little information on which to base an answer. I see no problems with the kernel changes you wish to make, not knowing anything else as far as what the server is supposed to do.
Here is a doc on performance you may wish to read.

Re: Kernel Modify
Usually you change kernel parameters for performance depending on the specifics on your system, for example databases, amount of memory, applications, data on how the system was working before, etc, etc, usually, you change a parameter an see if it better the poor condition on the system and how much, if it does not work, you tune the parameter again. |I know it sounds painful but it sure is fun.
Regards,
Jaime.

Re: Kernel Modify
Not sure what kernel you want to change. The best way to change this is to use SAM. If its a applications change then ask the vender of the application what they recommend.
