kernel param ? with Oracle on HP11.0
We had an issue recently on our K580 system running Oracle 8. Our dba's have talked with Oracle support and they claim that there is some type of ioslave kernel tunable parameter that we have set too low. They wouldn't give any more detail than that.
I have looked for something similar and couldn't find anything. Is there such an animal or are they referring to something else?
Thanks in advance.
Ron.

Re: kernel param ? with Oracle on HP11.0
Since you didn't provide more information about your current kernel parameters, system configuration and Oracle configurations, I would say the best bet would to ask them which parameter?, what would be the best and recommended values? etc. Once you get that data, make sure that it does improve the peformance and change if needed (SAM).
Life is a promise, fulfill it!

Re: kernel param ? with Oracle on HP11.0
Ron -
Oracle has a list of kernel parms by OS version somewhere on their site. Our DBA printed them off for us when we initially installed.
The one you mention does not ring any bells.
Ask you DBA to pull the recommended parms from their site, then examine them closely.
You will find a number of posts in the forum regarding the parms they list and what works best for different environments.
Best of luck.

dl

Re: kernel param ? with Oracle on HP11.0
Hi Ron,
The DBA has to setup the IOSLAVE parameter at the oracle configuration file i.e init.ora
Arockia.
