Kernel parameter adjustment for Oracle9i v2 on HP-UX 11.23
I've adjusted kernel parameters through SAM to prepare 2 rx4640 for Oracle9i Server and RAC installation. After clicking on reboot in SAM the system is inaccessible through telnet, rlogin or telneting through the console. I don't get the Console from the MP menu. Although I see in the CL option that the 2nd system is at the login prompt and system is ready, I still cannot access it without power cycling which I did on the 1st system. Also, how could I hookup a laptop to the console port to monitor the next system that needs kernel adjustments. Once I hook the laptop, configured it with an IP in the same subnet, I still cannot telnet to the console. Thank you in advance.

Re: Kernel parameter adjustment for Oracle9i v2 on HP-UX 11.23
Get on the machine, perhaps by booting off of a core OS cd.
cd /stand
mv vmunix vmunix.bad
mv vmunix.prev vmunix
Then your machine will at least boot without the changes.
Then you can go about diagnosing what went wrong.

Re: Kernel parameter adjustment for Oracle9i v2 on HP-UX 11.23
The machine will boot again after I power cycle'd it and it took the new values for the changed parameters. I attached the kernel parameters I've changed according to oracle recommendations. Maybe you can spot something there. Can you or anyone tell me if there's anything special I have to do to hook up a laptop to the console port so I can see where the system is when booting? I've used a x-over cable from the laptop to the console port of the rx4640. I can't telnet to the console after that. Thanks again.
