Re: Kernel Parameter
The information at http://docs.hp.com/hpux/onlinedocs/os/KCparams.OverviewAll.html is a copy of the SAM online help for HP-UX 11.0.
If you are running some other version of the OS, the SAM help would be the thing to get. This is mostly a reference giving a parameter by parameter description.
There is a book "HP-UX Tuning and Performance" by Sauers and Weygant that came out late last year. It describes how to debug kernel bottlenecks and how to fix them.
I work on SAM. We are looking into redoing the documentation on kernel parameters. Currently the SAM online help is the only delivered form of the parameter information.
How would like to get this information?
What should we document on each parameter?

Re: Kernel Parameter
This to Wade:
Welcome to this forum. I see that you actually setup yourself today!
I personally find SAM's help documentation very good. As you actually adjusts kernel settings it's nice to be able to toggle help then and there.
As a standalone document, the one in question is extremely important and helpful. It is very inconvenient to have to launch SAM just to view its help information. In my opinion there is no substitute for having BOTH forms.
In terms of new additions/features, I would like to see a quick-reference pointer to just where/how the dynamic value of the parameter can be seen (e.g. Glance, sar, using adb with /stand/vmunix, etc.).
