SolutionPrasad,
Welcome to the HP ITRC Forums.
Books could be written to answer this question.
In fact, books have been written!
Please start here:
9i install...
http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/A96167_01/toc.htm
9i release notes...
http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/html/A97350_05/toc.htm
Specifically.
http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/html/A96167_01/pre.htm#sthref173
Section: "Kernel Parameter Settings for HP"
Start there.
Now if you gave further questions on suggestion there, please GOOGLE for other with the same question, because it is unlikely you are the first one.
If there still is a problem, please do come back here and ask a SPECIFIC question with a DETAILED indication why you think the regular recommendations do not apply to your case.
Hope this helps some,
Hein van den Heuvel (at gmail dot com)

Re: kernel parameters for oracle 9i
Once I have also facing such problem and
when tried to install oracle following alert occure:-
ALERT- Increase the kernel parameter MSGMNI to at least 4096 from present setting of 512
ALERT- Increase the kernel parameter NCSIZE to at least 35840 from present setting of 8976
ALERT- Increase the kernel parameter SEMVMX to at least 32768 from present setting of 32767
ALERT- Increase the kernel parameter VPS_CEILING to at least 64 from present setting of 16
Hence there is need to increase mentioned Kernel parameters, I hope its work for you.
Regards
Ashish

Re: kernel parameters for oracle 9i
Thanks once again.
However, the document links donot get the picture for HP rx4640 Itanium server with HP UX 11.23. Rather they seem to be for HP9000 series servers. Any suggestions further?
Regards
Prasad

Re: kernel parameters for oracle 9i
The links are good enough, HP-9000 and Itanium servers currently run the "same" operating system. One Os media installs both systemtypes. Oracle has a different set of binaries for each platform, but the same kernel parameters will serve on both platforms.
Note that Oracle sets ninimum parameters, you may be forced to exceed those minimums depending on how demanding your application is.
