When installing HPUX 11i on different servers the kernel defaults seem to be different.
Example: Install HPUX 11i from CD on RP7400. Some kernel settings like maxuprc are using a formula for the settings. Same install, same CD on L2000 the maxuprc gets a hard coded 75. Has anyone else seen these types of differences. Obviously some of the install will be different due to the hardware differences but I would not expect some kernel settings like maxuprc to be configured differently on initial install.
I know some of this is a theoretical question but I would like to know if kernel settings default to different values based on the HW model. Any comments would be appreciated.

Hi Tim:
My first quess is that your patches are not exactly the same. For instance see if the following uncovers any difference in patch correspondence between servers:
# swlist -l file|grep /usr/conf/master.d/core-hpux
Regards!

Re: Kernel setup differences by servers
Hi Tim,
you can do that when installing from an "Ignite/UX" server!
But from the CD-ROM (core/install) the onlky parameter adapted to H/W is "maxswapchunks" which is twice your RAM size...

Wodisch
