Re: Kernel Wizards (SAM Quest Pt 2)

1. I configure dump devices only when setting up a new machine or cold-installing.

2. a. A pocket book sized manual
b. Man pages
c. A "Help" section within SAM

3. This is a good idea I like the more descriptive names.

4. I would prefer one SINGLE command with different options.

Re: Kernel Wizards (SAM Quest Pt 2)

1. No - I dont ever use SAM to configure dump. Its very easy to do from the command line.

2. a,d,c

3. Yes, new longer more meaningful names will make it easier to understand at a glance. The longer/more meaningful the better.

4. A single command (much easier to remember and only 1 man page to look at)

Re: Kernel Wizards (SAM Quest Pt 2)

1- Never

2- f- Description of parameter in SAM GUI.
b-
c-

3- Perhaps the description should be better.
The difficult task is undestanding sense of parameter not rememeber param name. Some 'Old' names exist in other unix. Not change.

4- I prefer GUI ( guided user interface). Kernel recompilation is not too simple. But CLI is always wellcome.

Re: Kernel Wizards (SAM Quest Pt 2)

1. I use sam to configure dump after an initial install or as needed.
2. Command line, man page, manual
3. Yes, more descriptive name would be nice.
4. I would like to see a CLI with many simple commands rather than few complex commands.
If I had only read the instructions first??

Re: Kernel Wizards (SAM Quest Pt 2)

1. No...prefer command line. This is something you do only rarely.
2. manpage, command line AND help section within SAM
3. For myself, I got used to the names with 10.2, then I had to get used names with 11.0....I'd rather stick to what is there now.....not start learning again. You have a description in SAM, that's enough. It will just get too confusing with doc/manuals saying one thing and new name saying another. New parms are another matter..make it what you want (it's new..)
4. That's too tricky for me to answer....feel like I'm asking my impression of a painting I've never seen. You have a GUI for SAM already. So I can't comment much on this one.
