I have a C3600 running HP-UX 11i (With Feb 2001 patche bundle). With both CDE and Gnome, I cannot access the pipe symbol on my keyboard. In the file /etc/kdblang I have the following :- USB_PS2_DIN_UK_English which I believe is correct as I have a pound symbol on the "3" key. (This also does not map correctly either).
Has anybody got some ideas on what to do to correct this problem?
Thanks in advance.

Solution
depends on the keyboard I suspect but I use /usr/bin/X11/xmodmap -e "keycode 23 = grave bar bar" to map the pipe symbol to the key immediately under the key (top left).
use xmodmap -pke output to work out a suitable key you wish to remap to using my eg ?
ps I only find the problem under gnome .
