My question is, which file controls login access to cde... everytime I login, it seems to accept my login, (the login screen dissapears) but then after about 5 second it bounces back to the login screen again... with no error?
any ideas.. it's gotta be something simple I missed...
thanks,

Solution
sounds like hostname resolution or some problem with the users CDE Env Tooltalk problems etc
Any errors ? Check /var/dt/Xerrors & $HOME/.dt/startlog and the syslog.log ?
Is root OK ? How about a new user ?
Check hostname resolution is OK : nslookup ip and hostname :
Try CDE diagnostic dr_dt : check for errors/ warnings ?

Re: kicked out of cde
Does sound like a host resolution issue. Are you using files or DNS in the nsswitch.conf file?
If using files, check and make sure that the /etc/hosts file contains the loopback and local host name at the least. If using DNS, make sure the host entry is present.
Do the nslookup and make sure you can resolve every which way.
