L1000 Memory

L1000 Memory

We have recently purchased a L1000 with 1Gb Ram. It seems we have a problem.
When we boot memory is at 25%, but when someone issues an operating command such as "more" or "man" the memory utilization jumps to 88% according to glance and then stays there until we re-boot. Can anyone help me understand why the utilization should go that high. No applications are running.

Re: L1000 Memory

If you do a 'memory report' in glance, what does it report for 'System' 'User' 'Phys' 'Buf Cache' 'Free'

This sounds like an interesting one...

Re: L1000 Memory

Adjust your kernel parameters to some of the values that I have in mine. We are using oracle 8.0.5 in my environment. I have 1Gb of RAM with 2.75Gb of swap space. You will have to reboot the system after kernel changes.

Re: L1000 Memory

This sure is an interesting one . However I would like to point out to you that 88% memory utlization is not bad . If the system starts swapping then you need to worry out .

What is your buffer size set to ?

Re: L1000 Memory

Thank you very much for your responses. The buffers were set up incorrectly.
