Hello All,
I have an HP9000 server model L3000/rp5470 currently running HP-UX 11i v1. According to the HCL, I can not upgrade this server to HP-UX 11i v3, but can upgrade to HP-UX 11i v2.. Is this correct? Would a cold install be the best option for upgrade?
Any advice would be most welcome

Pete,
Here's the official matrix:
http://h20338.www2.hp.com/hpux11i/downloads/public_hp-ux_systems_support.pdf
So yes, it is correct that you can only go to V2 and yes, I would recommend a cold install (always).

Re: L3000/rp5470 and HP-UX 11iv2
11.11 and 11.23 are possible. Check the quickspecs of 11.23 for all supported HBAs - some are no longer supported (e.g. HVD SCSI)!
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
