Lan card configuration

We have a K420 running HP-UX 10.20 with a PDC level of 2.2 and we are trying to find out if it is possible to install a HP HP-PB 100 Base TX card. Does anyone have the answer out there?

Re: Lan card configuration

PDC should not be a problem.
From yoour log it seems you ar etrying to install a patch for which the base fileset is not installed, in this case the 100Baset PB software!

ERROR: The "checkinstall" script for "PHNE_21884" failed (exit code
"1"). The script location was
"/opt/depot/lan/catalog/PHNE_21884/pfiles/checkinstall".

install the software for the A3495a card first
My house is the bank's, my money the wife's, But my opinions belong to me, not HP!

Re: Lan card configuration

Hello,

It looks like you have dependency problems.

Go to the HP ITRC site's patch database, enter in the patch and see if there are dependencies that you dont have.

Hopt this helps

Re: Lan card configuration

Hello again,

In addition to the very important information Melvyn offered up, I went to the patch database and there are two dependencies (which may or may not be resolved with the driver software):

PHCO_10947 and PHNE_21904

http://us-support.external.hp.com/wpsl/bin/doc.pl/sid=6e1d068015bad23240/screen=wpslPatchList

make sure you have these on you system before applying PHNE_21884

Hope this helps

Chris

Re: Lan card configuration

Ok,
Thanks to all for the responses. We have some digging to do to find out what is missing. I will have to repost later if the suggestions don't work because the server is in a remote location.

Again thanks

Re: Lan card configuration

I just wanted to point out that the dependecies I referred to are for the replacement for 21884, which is PHNE_23921. You should check out the patch description and see if you should consider this patch over the 21884.

Good luck
