LAN card not detected

I have re-installed the O/S
HP-UX 11.0 on my old HP9000/G30. It is equipped with a lan card labelled 100VG-AnyLAN 5022. When booting, the O/S seems not to recognize the lan card.

The G30 has been working with the same lan card under HP-UX 10.20 earlier.

Where should I start to look, with what?

Can anyone help?

Re: LAN card not detected

You'll need to see if there are drivers for 100VG Anylan available for HP-UX 11.0 and install them. They should be on one of the application CDs if they are available. Install those, reboot the system and you should then be able to see the card.

Would you mind posting the Ioscan display so we can take a look?

Re: LAN card not detected

you will need to install the driver software for the 100VG AnyLan card to make it useable on your OS. This should be on your 11.00 Apps CD's.

Re: LAN card not detected

Is this card an EISA card by chance? If so, 11.00 does not support EISA. No EISA drivers.

Re: LAN card not detected

Hi:

The drivers are almost always found on Disk 1 of any Application CD set.

If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: LAN card not detected

I have done a little more research and confirmed this is indeed an EISA lan card. You will not be able to use this card at 11.00, which is why you can't see it. Not supported (No EISA drivers for 11.00). Two options, either roll back to 10.20 or find a new lan card other than EISA. Hope this helps.

Re: LAN card not detected

Hi,

What is the hp part code for the card. The drivers are normally on the application cd 1 of the set.

Hope this helps.

Re: LAN card not detected

Just to correct a previous response, from Geno , this is NOT an EISA card, as the G30 systems were HP-PB based and cannot takeEISA cards.
Also, even if it were an EISA card, we still support them at 11.00 of OS, but only on the 32bit version.

All this jogged my memory and I suspect these VGAnyLan cardsmay be 3rd party OEM'ed cards, and this software may need to be got hold of seperately. I think the company was InterPhase.

I suggest you check with Interphase to see if there is a driver for 11.00 at:

Re: LAN card not detected

Thanks to everyone for participating with advices.

I have been working along the lines suggested and have ended up with a mail from InterPhase, saying that they do not have plans to support HP-UX drivers for this board as it is too old.

I did not find the non-EISA driver on the Application CD set.

Is there a chance that the 10.20 drivers could have been used, or is the any other way around?

Re: LAN card not detected

Unfortunately the answer appears to be no.

Apologies I could not help more.
