lanadmin -x doesn't work

Hi ,

facts: HP-UX 10.20

I try to run lanadmin -x in order to obtain the speed of the NIC. But doesn't work and no show any message.

Cause of it I can't to change the speed and the mode of the NIC to Full-Duplex.

Any ideas ?

Thanks.

Re: lanadmin -x doesn't work

Are you supplying a NMID(Network Management ID) to the lanadmin command? Try typing lanadmin -x 0 or lanadmin -x 1 and see what you get. The lanadmin command always needs a nmid to tell it which interface you wish to modify. Hope this helps.

Re: lanadmin -x doesn't work

You can hardcode this is in the lan configuration file. (Use the correct file for your lan card.)

For instance:
/etc/rc.config.d/hpbasetconf

To see all related conf files:
# ll /etc/rc.config.d/hp*

You may also want to apply the lanadmin command patch. Many cases of -x not working can be related to the lanadmin version.

Re: lanadmin -x doesn't work

First use the lanscan command to obtain the Network Management ID ( NM ID) and then run lanadmin to obtain the speed.

i.e

# lanscan
:
:

# lanadmin -x 6
Current Speed = 100 Full-Duplex

Hope this helps,
Josef

Re: lanadmin -x doesn't work

The lanadmin command will only work on 100/1000BaseX cards, not the built in ones (10HD only). AND, like Cheryl says, you have to have the LAN cumulative patch applied that gives you this capability.

Re: lanadmin -x doesn't work

On my version of lanadmin I will have to use:
lanadmin -s to obtain the current speed.
